ShelbyStrong.org is an online peer-to-peer fundraiser dedicated to helping Shelby, a local Physician Assistant from Charlotte, North Carolina, fight Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). "ALL" is a very aggressive (fast spreading) blood cancer that requires an extensive chemotherapy treatment regimen. 

 

"Shelby was extremely anemic and brought to the emergency room on June 10th, 2023 following an early morning phone call from her primary care physician assistant on her blood work results the prior day. She was later diagnosed with "ALL" and admitted to the hospital that day. Almost immediately upon being admitted, she began a series of procedures, along with, an intense month long chemotherapy treatment. Since her temporary discharge from the hospital, Shelby is expected to undergo another 6 months of aggressive chemotherapy treatments, followed by, another 2 years of more moderate chemotherapy. During this challenging period in her life, Shelby will be unable to work for a minimum of a year. "

 

This fundraising campaign was created to show our community’s support for such a wonderful and caring person.

Shelby is a dog mom, an amazing wife, and an intelligent individual who works above and beyond for all of her patients. This fundraiser was created by Stephen Gehrmann (Shelby's husband), with the duel purpose of showing Shelby how many people are here to support her, and to assist with financial expenses (medical and other), so we can focus solely on getting Shelby better.
